How Does It Work?

The light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, then converts into heat and damages the hair follicles. This damage then inhibits future hair growth. The Coolglide is calibrated to each individual patient based on the hair color and coarseness which ensures maximum light absorption without damaging the surrounding tissue. Who Makes A Good Candidate?

The Coolglide is a unique and versatile laser due to its longer wavelength and cooling feature for more comfortable and permanent results. It is ideal for both men and women and can be performed on many areas of the body, including the legs, arms, back, underarms, stomach and face. Traditionally, laser treatment works best on individuals with dark or coarse hair and lighter skin. However, the Coolglide laser hair removal system is safe and effective for patients with combination skin tones and hair colors including those with dark skin and dark hair.

What Can I Expect? What Are the Results?

A patient typically requires four to six treatment sessions, depending on which areas being treated, skin type, and natural growth cycle to see optimal results. Treatments are spaced six to eight weeks apart so that the laser can target the hair follicle in the “active” phase. Although the treatment can reduce hair growth, it may not remove all hair from a given area permanently (hormonal changes) and maintenance treatments may be required.
