Xeomin vs. Botox: Which Is Right for You? Insights from Las Vegas Experts

Botox treatment has been in the news for a long time. It is a go-to treatment option for younger-looking, healthy skin. Botox is made up of botulinum toxin and is used popularly for beauty treatments. However, in recent times, another brand has entered the beauty market. The newer option is called Xeomin® and is also known as incobotulinumtoxinA or botulinum toxin type A.

Xeomin® is approved by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration or FDA as a neuromuscular blocker. These blockers temporarily relax your facial muscles and also the muscles of other parts of your body. It is also recommended for some eye conditions, migraines, and bladder issues.

Let us understand how Xeomin® and Botox are different but have similar usage.

Xeomin® is manufactured as a more purified form of botulinum toxin and does not contain the complex protein components that Botox has. Probably that is why Xeomin® is often referred to as the “naked injectable.”

When treating medical conditions, Xeomin® is equally effective as Botox and has no advantages or disadvantages. Xeomin® and Botox can treat medical conditions such as Arm and neck spasms, twitching of the eye, and cervical dystonia. They are used for cosmetic treatments such as lines along the cheek and wrinkles in the forehead.

Xeomin® has an advantage over Botox in that it lasts longer. While a Botox treatment is effective for up to three to four months, Xeomin® treatment can last up to six months.

Another significant advantage of Xeomin® is that the results show within three to five days, while it takes up to two weeks for the result of a Botox treatment to be visible.

Furthermore, with Xeomin®, there is a claim that it causes fewer allergic reactions when compared to Botox as it is a more purified form. Although, allergic reactions to Botox are also pretty rare.

Both toxins can have possible side effects ranging from headache, pain, itching, bruising at the site of injection, and bleeding.

Whether you use Botox or Xeomin® is completely up to you based on your circumstances. However, the popular recommendation is to not use them interchangeably. You can consult your dermatologist to decide which suits you best and continue with it. More people use and continue with Botox because it has been in the cosmetic industry for almost 20 years and consistency matters.

Whichever product you choose, ensure that you consult your physician and consider your medical history. After you decide on a product, stick with that, and continue your skincare journey.
